Can Dick Cheney speak at BYU?
By Angry Conservative on 3/30/2007 9:27 AM

Read an interesting article about our Vice President and a very conservative college:

BYU_Cheney_Talk.jpg

BYU invites Dick Cheney to speak at April Commencement.

Brigham Young University in Utah is arguably one of the most conservative colleges on the planet (I mean, no alchohol at a college?). But in addition to that, they have a long history of political neutrality. What's being invited here is not a "devicise political figure", but the holder of the honorable office of Vice President. I have to say I am so sick and tire of the disrespect I hear about in this nation for the offices of President and Vice President. Even when Clinton was President and many disagreed with him and felt he abused his power and responsability, you still respected him because he was President. Do we see that with Bush or Cheney?

It's an honor to have any Vice President come speak at a college, no matter where it sways politically (well, all right, I would maybe exempt Dan Quail).

Iraq Success? Bloggers say yes! (Bush quotes IraqTheModel.com)
By Angry Conservative on 3/28/2007 4:00 PM

In a recent speech from President Bush, among many other things Bush quotes an english speaking Iraq blog site called IraqTheModel.com. It's run by a pair of brothers in the heart of Bagdhad, the worst place the "civil war" is at (well, only place, but I digress).

Iraq_The_Model_Bush_Blog.jpg

Read the brother's blog IraqTheModel.com

It's a pretty good read. They give some very insightful upfront reactions on how their new found freedom is affecting their lives and the lives of others around them. But back to the president.

If you read the article I linked at the top, all of this comes into question because A) there's some positive light thrown on the Iraq situation and B) it's not from Al-AP. Whenever you hear Dems quoting blogs, no one questions their sources. But nooo, we have to doubt anything that Bush says, especially if it's anything positive about Iraq. Nothing good could possibly come from there...

Democrats = Largest Tax Hike In History!
By Angry Conservative on 3/27/2007 9:26 AM

I know most of you conservatives have been very upset with how Republicans have been managing their money. I'm one of you, I hate the pork that's been thrown around like it's buffet time at IHOP, BUT, does it surprise anyone that the Republicans still showed more constraint than the dems?

Democrats_Biggest_Tax_Hike_In_History.GIF

Largest Tax Hike in History!

The Republican Caucus has a great report that shows the amount of taxes needed to increast to support their unbelievable spending. Even at their worst the Republicans were better than the Democrats.

"The Democrat budget reported Wednesday proposes the largest tax increase in U.S. history – $392.5 billion over 5 years – mainly to finance immense new spending through 2012."

*sigh*

Ewwww! Sheep Man!
By Angry Conservative on 3/26/2007 9:00 AM

And you wonder why conservatives are against cloning and stem cell research? Check out this report:

Sheep_Cloning_With_Man.jpg

Scientist create a sheep that's 15% human!

Some of the organs inside the sheep are ready for human transplant! Critics feel scientists are playing God (oh my, intelligent design?). Will be very interesting to see where this goes...

Immigration: Six Strikes You're Out!
By Angry Conservative on 3/23/2007 10:12 AM

Still thinking that the Justice Department fired those judges because of political reasonings? Check out this article:

Mexican_Border_Six_Times.jpg

Illegal immigrants allowed at least five strikes

In brief, judges along the US border with Mexico have done pretty much nothing until after the sixth arrest of illegals. This is one of the reasons the Justice Department is citing for firing these judges. 'Bout Friggin' Time! Oh my, don't do your job and you get fired? And these turkeys want special treatment? grrr...

The Religion of Global Warming presents High Priest Gore
By Angry Conservative on 3/21/2007 9:51 AM

As many have probably heard, the Senate has finally been able to have their Global Warming and Climate Change hearings (after two cancellations due to cold weather). And the star of the show is Al Gore.

Global_Warming_Gore_Fire.jpg

Baby Gore needs special treatment

In a truly classic, liberal fashion, Gore asks for special treatment for his testimony on 2 accounts. 1) that he did not need to submit his testimony 24hrs in advance, and 2) that he receive an uprecedented 30 minutes to blather on about his hypocritical and hyperactive propaganda. Rules only apply to the rest of the world, not Al Gore. We can all reduce our carbon footprints, but he can have his huge mansions that produce more pollution than 50 average homes.

On a similar note, we get some very interesting news out of the Prague:

"Czech President Vaclav Klaus said on Wednesday that fighting global warming has turned into a 'religion' that replaced the ideology of communism and threatens to clip basic freedoms. "

The article is great and very practical. President Klaus has some great points about how Global Warming fanatics and Communism are similar under different guises. And that poor countries would be hurt the most if you followed Gore's mandates. I will close with this great quote:

"This ideology preaches earth and nature and under the slogans of their protection – similarly to the old Marxists – wants to replace the free and spontaneous evolution of mankind by a sort of central, now global, planning of the whole world."

Iraq, good or bad? Can't have it both ways.
By Angry Conservative on 3/19/2007 12:50 PM

Two reports on "surveys" came out on Iraq, good new and bad news. Let's talk about the bad first:

iraq_bad.jpg

Iraq Survey from USA Today: Hope Draining Away

"A survey sponsored jointly by USA TODAY, ABC News, the British Broadcasting Corp. and ARD, a German TV network find a nation that in large measure has fragmented into fear. Six in 10 Iraqis say their lives are going badly. Only one-third expect things to improve in the next year."

Or so the survey goes. It paints a lot of doom and gloom. Now let's look at the good news:

iraqi-soldiers.jpg

British Opinion Poll: Life is getting better!

On the very same day, another survey shows that Iraqi's feel life is getting better! Definately better than when Saddam was in control. Only 21% feel they're in a "civil war", and by a margin of 2 to 1 they feel the increase in soldiers is a good thing. This survey asked 5000 people, the other was only 2100 or so.

What does this prove? Surveys can say whatever you want them too! I *hate* surveys for this very reason, you can extrapolate any piece of information to prove any point you want to. On the exact same day, we have two survey saying just about the opposite thing! Surveys are just crap! Like how can you accurately tell how many citizens have been killed from a survey? Just plain stoopid.

What we need are more cold hard facts, detailed both aspects of the war (failures and successes). You know how many soldiers have died in this war, when was the last time you heard how many terrorists or insurgents have died? Has anyone told you how many schools have been built? What about the percentage of people on power/water/etc? Let's see numbers before the war, and numbers now. You'd be surprised (I'm working on it, will be in my Answers section).

Let the mud fly!
By Angry Conservative on 3/16/2007 11:56 AM

You'd think the Primaries were next week and not a good nine months away, with all the candidates already attacking each other. Today, we're going to look at a new internet-only ad from Barack Obama's camp:

Any of us who were around in the 80s remember this ad (though I don't recall the athlete wearing an iPod). Even though I differ greatly on a lot BO's opinions, this ad was rather clever. Nice job. Makes me wonder if Apple will have it taken down for copyright infringement...

By Angry Conservative on 3/14/2007 10:40 AM

Amazingly, the French supreme court has shot down gay marriage!

French High Court Rejects Gay Marriage

A gay couple got married near Bordeaux (pronounced "bore-doe" for those not familiar with the ways of the French) in 2004 and the French government immediately said it was illegal! Of course, lawsuits file, and now, 3 years later the highest court agreed with the government! Gay Marriage is not allowed in France! Of all places! And yet, we have our Massachusetts...

A Proud Member of the Vast Right-Wing Conspiracy!
By Angry Conservative on 3/13/2007 10:18 AM

Hillary's at it again, claiming there's a vast, right-wing conspiracy and anything bad that happens to the Clintons is because of their efforts. Read the full report here. In brief, a couple Republicans were busted for jamming phones during an election. Wrong thing to do, you bet, but evidence of a vast right-wing conspiracy? Hardly. And hypocritical of Hillary to say, as though the Dems are never guilty of voter fraud? You be the judge:

But Hillary, I'm here to say that I'm a member of this vast, right-wing conspiracy, since I'm doing everything within my power to show the world that the Right is right on just about everything!

Here's a video of her claim, rather choppy but eh, it's Hillary.

Big Ass Post On Global Warming
By Angry Conservative on 3/8/2007 9:20 PM

I have a lot to say about Global Warming today, so let's dive right into it:

1. New Government Committee for Global Warming

Dems_For_Global_Warming.jpg

AP Story on new Global Warming committee

This big ass post all started because of reading the recent news that the Dems in the House have decided to form a committee for the express purpose of Global Warming. The official name of the committee is "The Select Committee on Energy Independence and Global Warming". What the f@#! does "energy independence" and "global warming" have to do with each other?!? As a matter of fact, with political correctness the way it is now-a-days, they are polar opposites. The more we put limitations on ourselves for so-called Global Warming, the more other nations without these limitations will produce cheaper oil and energy, and thus the more dependant we will become on these sources of energy. Dumbasses...

In addition to just being a stoopid, oxymoronic committee, it's pulling money away from the Ethics committee. I guess global warming is "the greatest challenge of our time", even though the Dems had promised to clean the "culture of corruption" in Washington. But you know, ethics just aren't that important.

But the worst is not only does it take money away from a smart committee (I can tell you enforcing ethics in Washington is no easy task) but this entire committee is a waste of tax payers money. Why? Because the Government has already spoken on Global Warming! Check out my old Feb 7th post about a press release I discovered from the U.S. Senate Committee on Environment & Public Works. This spells out many issues on Global Warming and the committee does a good job on it. Why do we need even more people wasting time and money over this silly hype?!?

2. Censorship of Global Warming Debate

Global_Warming_Censorship.jpg

Telegraph article on Journal anti-Global Warming Censorship

Want more proof that Global Warming is political and not scientific? Go no further than this article I found from the UK's Telegraph about leading science journals censoring the debate on Global Warming! Classic tactics on the left. Debate this, everything rhetoric they spew out is fact, and if you challenge you're either called names ("denier" anyone?) or censored. Read this excerpt:

"Dr Naomi Oreskes analysed almost 1,000 papers on the subject published since the early 1990s, and concluded that 75 per cent of them either explicitly or implicitly backed the consensus view, while none directly dissented from it. [This] study is now routinely cited by those demanding action on climate change, including the Royal Society and Prof Sir David King, the Government's chief scientific adviser [and Al Gore]. However, her unequivocal conclusions immediately raised suspicions among other academics, who knew of many papers that dissented from the pro-global warming line.

They included Dr Benny Peiser, a senior lecturer in the science faculty at Liverpool John Moores University, who decided to conduct his own analysis of the same set of 1,000 documents - and concluded that only one third backed the consensus view, while only one per cent did so explicitly." (emphasis added)

Remember, most pundits don't think it's real science if it hasn't been published in some kind of scientific journal. However, if these so-called scientific journals continue to reject legitimate papers questioning Global Warming, then they are eschewing the real research being done. That's one reason this is so frustrating. Those who have actually researched Global Warming know how much of this is bogus, but since little gets published, people don't take us seriously and call us "Deniers".

3. Sports Illustrated Endorses Global Warming

Sports_Illustrated_Believes_In_Global_Warming.jpg

Sports Illustrated Global Warming article

The latest issue of Sports Illustrated has decided to stop worry about sports and start worrying about political garbage. Global Warming has nothing to do with how any particular team is performing, and yet a lengthy article is devoted to it, spreading the lies that this is "fact" instead of "theories" (shaky, unfounded theories at best).

I think it's highly ironic that the sport they try to highlight being affected by Global Warming is quickly becoming the least cared about sport in America...

4. February's Average Temperature = LOW!

Global_Warming_Freeze.gif

NOAA's February 2007 Report

Looking at hard facts in the face of Global Warming is always fun. The National Oceanic & Atmospheric Administration's February 2007 report shows that it was 1.8 F cool than the 20th Century! Where's Global Warming now, be-yotch!

5. The Misunderstood Universe, kick-ass Global Warming site

Earth_on_Fire_Animated.gif

http://www.misunderstooduniverse.com/index.htm

In my recent perusal of the web finding information on Global Warming, I stumbled across this little nugget. It contains quite a bit of detail about Global Warming and the crap that it is. My favorite tidbit though has got to be it's article "Global Warming Benefits - You may well like it!" It details how civilization has always progressed faster when the climate was warmer. Winters are safer, agriculture thrives, and that allows for smarter brains.

6. Canadians given the Final Word on Global Warming

On that note, I'd like to give the final word on Global Warming to our friends the Canadians. Well, a picture more than a word:

Canadians_For_Global_Warming.jpg

Brad Templeton, a Chairmen of the Board of the Electronic Frontier Foundation (which I tend to agree with more often than not, though is wrong sometimes), was having fun with photoshop, and this picture really made me laugh. You can see Brad's website at http://www.templetons.com/brad/.

P.S. I have to apologize to all you ultra-conservatives out there for my "liberal" use of language in this post. Global Warming really makes me angry, and sometimes I just lose control and the expletives fly. I shall be more restrained in the future.

Time to Boycott Fox!
By Angry Conservative on 3/7/2007 10:25 AM

I saw this on MoveOn.org a little while ago, one of their latest hairball schemes is the claim that Fox News is somehow not a ligitimate news organization. "The Democratic Party of Nevada just announced plans to team up with Fox News for a presidential primary debate. But Fox isn't a legitimate news channel. It's a right-wing mouthpiece like Rush Limbaugh and the Drudge Report—repeating false Republican talking points to smear Democrats." So they are campaigning to have the Democratic Party of Nevada to drop Fox from the debate.

Classic. A news organization that isn't a left-wing mouthpiece like DailyKos and Micheal Moore can't be legitimate.

When I first read MoveOn.org's pathetic (and typical) attempt at censoring anyone who doesn't agree with them, I just blew it off as usual left-wing shrillness and didn't think twice about it. That was until I stumbled across this report:

John_Edwards_Nevada_Debate.jpg

CBS report about John Edwards boycotting the debate!

The First Woman President John Edwards has decided to side with MoveOn.org and boycott the debate. "Edwards' campaign said the involvement of Fox News, which is often accused by liberals of having a conservative bias, was part of the decision to pass on the Aug. 14 debate in Reno. "

Anyone still wondering how far out on the fringes Mrs. Edwards is?

Let the Global Warming back peddling begin!
By Angry Conservative on 3/6/2007 11:50 AM

Saw this article over the weekend. Claude Allegre, a French global warmist, has decided that maybe he was wrong. "Dr. Allegre now sees global warming as over-hyped and an environmental concern of second rank," the article from Canada's National Post reads.

For those who read my blog regularly, this is not news. I reported on this back in early February of a little known Press Release from the U.S. Senate Committee on Environment & Public Works which was reported back in October of 2006! In this press release, Dr. Allegre was mentioned about not supported the current consensus (as opposed to science) on Global Warming. For more details, read my Feb 7th post on this issue.

To explain a little more in detail, Dr. Allegre produced an article titled "The Snows of Kilimanjaro" and discussed in great length his current skeptisism of Global Warming.

mt_kilimanjaro_snow_global_warming.jpg

Dr. Claude Allegre's "The Snows of Kilimanjaro" (english version)

Allegre wrote that the "cause of climate change remains unknown" and pointed out that Kilimanjaro is not losing snow due to global warming, but to local land use and precipitation changes (more specifically the deforestation of the foothills of the mountain, which causes more warm air to rise up the mountain, melting more of the ice). Allegre also pointed out that studies show that Antarctic snowfall rate has been stable over the past 30 years and the continent is actually gaining ice.

Reading the story in the National Post, you find that it is actually part 13 of an extended series detailing the "Deniers", as Lawrence Solomon calls them. But make no mistake, he is using the term tounge-in-cheek because of how the drive-by media calls anyone who dares question Global Warming. The series is very enlightning. Here are direct links to each article:

Some very interesting readings. Once again, the Canadians have out done themselves!

Does "300" have a hidden political agenda?
By Angry Conservative on 3/5/2007 1:47 PM

This is classic, people trying to inject their own interpretations of a piece of fiction that the creators never intended.

There's a new movie coming out called "300". In case you haven't seen any of the commercials, it's about the Spartan army of only 300 men that held off the massive army of many 10s of thousands of Persians. They were able to do this buy forcing the attacking army into a chokehold location where the numbers were meaningless. It's actually an impressive historical story.

300_Bush_Comparison.jpg

IMDB entry for "300".

Frank Miller, a comic book author and artist (his most well known piece is The Dark Knight, a future vision of Batman, but he is also known for a stint with Daredevil and Electra), as well as a script writer (wrote a couple of the RoboCops as well as others) recently wrote and drew a comic called "300" which was a very stylized and well written piece. I particularly liked them, especially his use of dark space and color (red is splashed from time to time in a very dramatic effect).

A movie has been made to be released this Friday following the same dramatic flavor. Somewhat similar to his movie Sin City, which was also "stylized" like the comic books, 300 looks to be not only sort of accurate as to it's historical content, but very faithful to the comic that it is portraying. Looks to be a good film that I'll go see (and probably blog about afterward).

However, in this day an age, everyone has to try to inject something anti-Bush about the film. Read this NY Times article where a reporter after a screening has to ask the director which bad guy is Bush. Quote:

"“Is George Bush Leonidas or Xerxes?” one of [the reporters] asked. The questioner (reporter), by Mr. Snyder’s recollection, insisted that Mr. Bush was Xerxes, the Persian emperor who led his force against Greek’s city states in 480 B.C., unleashing an army on a small country guarded by fanatical guerilla fighters so he could finish a job his father had left undone. Mr. Snyder said he intended [no] analogy when he set out to adapt the graphic novel created by Frank Miller with Lynn Varley in 1998." (emphasis added)

Classic to try to inject some lame interpretation on a piece of fiction rather than just watching the movie and enjoying it for what it is, an awesome struggle of 300 men against unbeatable odds.

What's the meaning of Ann Coulter's "faggot" comment?
By Angry Conservative on 3/4/2007 3:52 PM

As most of you have probably heard or seen, Ann Coutler made a joke about not being able to use the word "faggot" at John Edwards expense. The exact comment is as follows:

"Oh and I was going to have a few comments on the other Democratic Presidential Candidate, John Edwards, but it turns out you have to go into rehab to use the word 'faggot'..."

I was trying to figure out the pretext of this comment, since a lot of the audience seems to know that this was an inside joke of some sort. I was finally able to dig this up:

ann_coulter_faggot_rehab.jpg

Coulter: You use the word 'faggot' and you're going into rehab?

Basically, about a month ago, someone used the word 'faggot' to describe a homosexual, and then went into rehab, as though that was a good way to apologize. So, I guess she was implying with her comments that A) what transpired a month ago was rediculas and B) that Edwards has at best metrosexual tendancies. Don't believe me? Check this out:

Now of course Howard Dean is screaming that this is bigotry and unfair and just not kosher (can he use a jewish term?) and demands an apology (not recognizing the real joke here) and that Repulican candidates should publicly distance themselves from Ann (as though they completely agree with the gay agenda). Fox News has a short report on it.

What blows my mind here is HOW MANY TIMES has a DNC candidate or friend said something outrageous about the Republics in general, or typically about Bush? The list is countless, but I'll try point out a few:

Where's the apologies from these people, eh Howard?

Dangers of Global Warming: Cost and Seeds
By Angry Conservative on 3/3/2007 3:47 AM

Apparently, the EU cannot afford to stop global warming, according to a recent Reuters report. Reducing so-called greenhouse gases by 20% is not something within their reach. Too costly. But don't worry, SCIENCE TO THE RESCUE!

Global_Warming_Cloud_Seeder.jpg

BBC reporting on CloudSeeders

The answer to science screwing up the climate is for science to monkey around with the climate even more! By injecting water from the oceans into the air, climate can be controlled. This is serious, there are scientists who effectively want to terra-form our planet.

I can't tell you how dangerous this line of thinking is. Whenever man tries to muck around with nature, they fail miserably! Look at the recent rash of forest fires in America this past decade. Why? Because at the turn of the 20th century, Teddy Roosevelt decided to have a War Against Forest Fires. Not only did that create the tinderbox that is America today, but it also saw a drastic reduction in the open spaces in the wilderness, reducing the grazing meadows that wildlife needs to survive.

Need further evidence that man doesn't know what he's doing where mother nature is concerned? Read Michael Crichton's article on how we messed up Yellowstone National Park (it's about 3/4 the ways down).

If we continue on this path of thinking we can outsmart nature herself, then we are doomed to experience global calamities worse than what Global Warmists predict today...

To much heat on the brain?
By Angry Conservative on 3/2/2007 3:48 PM

And you thought that only those skeptics of Global Warming were the crazy ones. Check out these stories.

Global_Warming_UFOs.jpg

UFO science key to halting climate change!

A former Canadian defense minister feels that we should use UFO technology to save the world from so-called climate change. No joke. Paul Hellyer feels that since they have traveled so far across the galaxy, they must know how to burn fuel more efficiently and can save our planet from this eminent doom that is Global Warming.

Add to this Al Gore's recent rant against the media. He's upset that apparently there is a bias against Global Warming in the media and that the media has "missed" the climate message. "A 10-year University of California study found that essentially zero percent of peer-reviewed scientific journal articles disagreed that global warming exists, whereas, another study found that 53 percent of mainstream newspaper articles disagreed the global warming premise."

Anyone else out there shaking their heads is disbelief? First that anyone even remotely feels that our media today hasn't boughten the trumped up hype of Global Warming? Or second, that such a slide exists in his presentation?

Soldiers against the war?
By Angry Conservative on 3/1/2007 12:00 PM

60 Minutes on Sunday had, of course, a program against the Iraq War. The "twist" was that they were highlighting soldiers who were against the war.

60_minutes_against_iraq.jpg

60 minutes "Dissension In The Ranks"

This is one area that a lot of Conservatives feel, that if this war were so bad and Vietnam-ish, then why aren't there more soldiers bitching and moaning about it? Well, here you go! 60 Minutes gives you all sorts of soldiers against this war! That's it! This is Vietnam all over again!

Take a deep breath my liberal amigo, and visit the site of these so-called dissenters. http://www.appealforredress.org/ is their offical site, and they have a count right on the next page. That number is what really makes me laugh. If there were so many of our brave soldiers that upset with this war, at least as many as the media makes it out to be, then you'd think this number should be high, right? As of this post, there are only a little over 1600 soldiers who've joined this "appeal". 1600 soldiers! Man that sounds high, until you realize that that's not even 1% of the soldiers serving in Iraq, let alone in the entire military. So much for thinking there are a whole bunch of soldiers against this war.

I think it's funny that whenever there's any soldier that has the tiniest thing to say bad about this war, they get tons of expensive media coverage. How come we never hear the other side of the story in the drive by media?

I think I'll have to make that a new goal of mine, start collecting real stories from real soldiers who see the realities of this war, the benefits of their sacrifices. Any soldiers reading this and want to share, please email me at shout@angryconservative.com and I'll post it immediately.

Environmentalism is a religion
By Angry Conservative on 2/28/2007 8:04 AM

Yes, I know that many people have said this before (include Michael Crichton, very elagently I might add), but a recent conference in Australia is addressing the topic again.

Environmentalism_is_religion.jpg

TheAge.com.au's article on new congregation

Here's a good quote:

"Environmentalism has largely superseded Christianity as the religion of the upper classes in Europe and to a lesser extent in the United States. It is a form of religious belief which fosters a sense of moral superiority in the believer, but which places no importance on telling the truth. The global warming scam has been, arguably, the most extraordinary example of scientific fraud in the postwar period." [emphasis added]

As I always say, if we can't predict the weather 10 days from now, what makes you think we can predict the weather 10 years from now, let alone 100 years from now.

Never Abandon Your Truck!
By Angry Conservative on 2/27/2007 1:19 PM

Get this! Florencio Bernal's truck overturns on a highway near Ceder City, UT. He goes home because his back hurts, takes some pills, falls asleep, figures he'll take care of his truck in the morning. Some time later (probably before dawn), nurse VerLee Hunt sees the truck, stops to see if she can help, and someone else traveling down the road slams into Bernal's truck, Hunt's car, and Hunt herself, killing the nurse.

What happens next? Bernal is sentenced to 18 months in jail for negligence homicide! I don't understand it! How is any of this poor lady's death his fault at all? Shocking!

Give us your tired, your poor, your terrorists
By Angry Conservative on 2/27/2007 8:52 AM

I was listening to NPR on the radio this morning, and they had a story about the Real ID Act and how opposition was mounting.

NPR_Pam_Fessler_On_Real_Id.jpg

Pam Fessler's Read ID story

I found myself shouting at the radio again. Opposing the act?!? One of the recommendations of the 9/11 Committee that can actually help against terrorists attacking in America is receiving opposition? (it should be noted that the terrorists of 9/11 had obtained state id cards because a system like Real ID was not in place). As Pam discussed the pains that Driver's License agencies will experience with this program, it wasn't until almost the end of the piece that finally she mentioned the real reason for opposition. Illegal Aliens will find it harder to get Driver's Licenses...

I can understand some people's fear of this becoming a national ID card, but once you dig into the details of the bill, you find out it's nothing like that. It simply requires more "real" identification when getting a State ID, such as a birth certificate or a passport. Right now (though I could be swayed with enough arguement) I am persuaded to believe that this would be beneficial in protecting our country against terrorits.

How come terrorists have more friends here in America than anywhere else?

$23.8 Million in Free Advertising for Gore!
By Angry Conservative on 2/26/2007 3:12 PM

After the Chixie Dicks' sympathy grammy awards, is it any surprise that Al Gore's propaganda film won an Oscar last night?

Gore_Wins_Oscar.jpg

Reuters report on the winning Grammy

What's shocking in all this is the free advertising Gore got as a politician. I mean, he didn't even win the award, the Director and Singer won (notice how he's holding nothing in the photo), and yet he was given air time to spread his political adgenda. Trying to make it a "morale" cause is a pathetic attempt at trying to make all counter-arguements non-valid (the left *loves* doing this, look at their immigration arguements, the welfare ones, etc).

But the worst of it is how much FREE air time he was given! I've run the calculations. An average 30 second spot ad was $1.7 million, according to adweek.com. When you take into account the speech and the song, especially with the hypocritical political messages blasted on the superscreen (like anyone in that audience was ever going to take public transit), I caculate roughly 7 minutes of screentime was given to Gore's propaganda machine.

7 minutes = 14 30second ad spots * $1.7 million = $23.8 MILLION

Translation, a whole lot of free ad time given to a political campaign. Gore almost announced his running for presidency, but ran out of time. Some people think it was a joke, I think he just didn't want to have to own up to all the free air time given with the campaign finance laws...

You like Free Speech now? Just wait if Islam wins...
By Angry Conservative on 2/22/2007 3:59 PM

Blogging is wonderful, isn't it? The ultimate expression of free speech. Unfortunately, "free speech" doesn't exist in many countries, including Egypt. Want to blog in Egypt? Better watch what you say.

dont_blog_in_egypt1.jpg

ITN News report about blogger trial.

Abdel Karim Suleiman, a 22 year old former law student in Egpyt, was convicted today for things he blogged about in 2004. Simple things, like saying some of Muhammad's companions were like terrorists, and comparing his leader to the old dictators of Egypt. Things people say all the time about Christian and U.S. leaders, stuff you wouldn't think twice about saying. But apparently in Egypt, it's a big no-no.

BBC has a good story on this as well: http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/middle_east/6386613.stm

What gets me is all the people who vilify President Bush as evil, Hitler-like, etc, how these same people cannot understand the freedoms they take for granted living in America. If these same people were in Egypt, they'd be in jail now...

US Economy Sucks!
By Angry Conservative on 2/21/2007 7:05 PM

I've made a post like this before, but it deserves repeating again. Check out this article:

us_deficit_shrinking.jpg

Christian Science Monitor reporting on the shrinking US Deficit

Here's a good quote:

"Tax revenues are rising much faster than spending, according to Treasury Department numbers released last week. The recent trend is strong enough that, were it to continue, the budget could move into surplus in barely a year, one economist calculates. " [emphasis added]

Reaganomics to the rescue! Why is it so hard to give credit where credit's due? The economy is thriving. The tax cuts have worked. When people and companies keep more, they tend to spend more. They are also motivated to earn more, and therefore pay more in taxes, even with a lower tax rate. Yet, every time you hear any news about our amazingly great economy from the mainstream media, there is always some sort of shadow cast upon the news. A whole "this is good BUT will be bad" for whatever reason.

Yes, our economy sucks, which is why we have low unemployment, great pay growth, booming housing markets, and record highs in the stock market. Sucks to be American...

Global Warming caused by nature?
By Angry Conservative on 2/20/2007 9:41 AM

And here we thought it was us gas guzzling SUVs that was causing Global Warming, turn out that COWS are worse than vehicles!

cow_and_their_poop.gif

Cows, a major cause of global warming?

"Livestock are responsible for 18 percent of greenhouse-gas emissions as measured in carbon dioxide equivalent, reports the FAO. This includes 9 percent of all CO2 emissions, 37 percent of methane, and 65 percent of nitrous oxide. Altogether, that's more than the emissions caused by transportation."

This from an article from the Christian Science Monitor. Unsurprisingly, the argument isn't that mother nature itself produces many so-called greenhouse gases, long before man was around creating SUVs, but rather that man is mass producing cows for meat and we're all evil because we eat meat and should become vegetarians.

But don't believe them? Check out this article from MSNBC:

cow_global_warming.jpg

Mountain of Manure, burning our atmosphere?

Nebraska is burning all sorts of cow dung, adding to the normal methane problems of bovine manure. I mean, look at the size of that poo! The message is loud and clear. Until we all turn into vegetarians, don't even bother switching over to a hybrid...

The Pain that is Petraeus
By Angry Conservative on 2/19/2007 9:30 AM

I was listening to Meet The Press over the weekend, and I really started to feel for General Petraeus. Russert was interviewing Senators Reed and Hagel (two of my favorites, let me tell you) and a great question was posed:

"You voted to confirm General Petraeus to head the unit—oversee our troops in Iraq, along with Senator Hagel. Senator McCain asked this question: “Suppose we send you over to your new job ... only we tell you that you can’t have any additional troops. Can you get your job done?” Lieutenant General Petraeus: ‘No, sir.’” Why would you vote to confirm him and then oppose giving him the troops he says he needs to get the job done? "

petraus_senate_troop_surge.jpg

General Petraeus is voted in unanimously, only to be denied troops later?

Their answer was pathetic. Garbage about this non-binding, gutless vote was against the President's plan and nothing to do with the General. And yet, it was the General who said he needed these troops to get his job done! Petraeus stated from the beginning that he needed the troops, he was going to ask for these troops, and without them he could not succeed in Iraq. Why on earth would these Senators vote him in if they didn't agree with this troop surge?!? Talk about your typical crap hypocritical politicians.

If you want to see the Meet The Press transcript, go here: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/17168627/page/4/

I feel for you General Petraeus. There's nothing more frustrating than to be hired to do a job, but then denied the very tools necessary to get the job done...

Is Global Warming really Global?
By Angry Conservative on 2/16/2007 10:35 AM

Another quick post on Global Warming, a lot of computer models a while ago predicted temperatures in the antartic to rise with the rest of the world, which would cause ice sheets to slide into ocean, raise levels, blah blah blah.

losing_ice_in_antartic.jpg

Lose of ice = Cold temperatures?

But a recent report from the Ohio State University has found that the temperatures have not risen neither has precipitation. BOTH of which were predicted by computer models. Prof. David Browich says, ""It's hard to see a global warming signal from the mainland of Antarctica right now. Part of the reason is that there is a lot of variability there. It's very hard in these polar latitudes to demonstrate a global warming signal. This is in marked contrast to the northern tip of the Antarctic Peninsula that is one of the most rapidly warming parts of the Earth."

The giest of it? Computer Models SUCK! If they can't predict the weather 10 days from now, how are they supposed to predict it 10 years from now?!?

Browich makes a great point that we simply don't have enough data to make a good judgement on this. Oh, really? Tell that to the people at the U.N.

If only Italy had an ACLU
By Angry Conservative on 2/16/2007 10:22 AM

Reuters report on CIA trial in Italy

CIA agents are being held for trial in Italy for removing an Islamist cleric for questioning. The cleric claims to have been moved to Egypt and tortured. I have no idea what's true or not, but find it out right amazing the conditions surrounding this so called trial.

  • Italy is denying the extradition requests from the US
  • The lawyers "defending" the agents are not allowed to speak with them

Amazing. Our own allies aligning themselves with the terrorists...

Inconvenient Weather
By Angry Conservative on 2/14/2007 12:05 AM

Word has it that a recently planned screening of Inconvenient Truth had to be cancelled due to a snowstorm. I've not been able to find anything other than Drudge's reporting of it, but it's rather ironic.

At the same time, he's reported that a hearing scheduled for today about "Climate Change" is cancelled due to an ice storm.

Capital_Global_Warming.jpg

Since Drudge tends to change his "flash" alerts a lot, I've repeated the information here:

HOUSE HEARING ON 'WARMING OF THE PLANET' CANCELED AFTER ICE STORM

The hearing will be rescheduled to a date and time to be announced later.

The Disgrace that is the Grammys
By Angry Conservative on 2/13/2007 9:54 AM

I guess I shouldn't have expected better, since the Grammys are coming from California, but for some reason I thought that the Grammys were supposed to hail the aclimations of music and not be another outlet for liberal politics. Two awardees jump to mind:

dixie_chicks_grammy_hussein.jpg

Dixie Chicks win Grammys

In case you haven't heard, the Dixie Chicks won quite a few Grammys over the weekend, 5 in total, including best Album and best Single. Unfortunately, it has little to do with talent or popularity and everything to do with politics. This was only awarded because the Dixie Chicks (or Chixie Dicks as my wife calls them) love to bash Bush, and anyone who does that is a-ok in the entertainment industry. To think they beat out the Chili Peppers! The article I link to above from (of course) the NYTimes describes it all. They claim the public rejection of the Chicks was "radio censorship", and even quote one of the Grammy voters voting only for that reason. For some reason, not liking a band's attitude is non-American...

The second roll-your-eyes-award went to the worst President in a century, Jimmy Carter.

Jimmy_Carter_Grammy_Book.jpg

Jimmy Carter wins a Grammy for reading his book.

This really shouldn't surprise me considering the past winners:

  • 2006 Barack OBama
  • 2005 and 2004 Bill Clinton
  • 1998 Hillary Clinton

See a pattern anyone?

P.S. I need to thank The Might Dustblogger for his picture of the Dixie Chicks and Saddam Hussein. Beautiful picture and sums everything up without needing to say much. The blog with the picture is at http://www.dustinmhawkins.com/wordpress/?p=50.
