GLOBAL WARMING or GLOBAL COOLING? by Angelos Backus

It's a relatively brief article that defines the whole root of the problem of trying to determine if global warming is man made or not. Ultimately, there are SO MANY UNKNOWNS in our environment that we cannot say one way or another if we are the cause of global warming (questionable statement at best).

What REALLY bugs me about Global Warming is that if these environmentalists would just get off of the whole "Global Warming" agenda and just talk about pollution in general, a lot of conservatives would line up behind and agree!

"Global warming" is a misnomer. If a desert cools off and starts getting rain, then it will drastically affect the habitat. Climate change is more accurate. Vegetation and fauna are not like humans, where we can just put a jumper on or turn on a fan. As a race, we started polluting from the late 19th century and are still feeling the effects of 100+ year old pollution. If you can read between the lines of your Bible, why not environmental policy?

Re: Global Warming or Global Cooling?    By AngryConservative on 9/23/2008 10:08 AM
Because when policy is being based on conjecture, we get bad policy. If it were based on pollution, it would be different and better, but instead, it's based on an irrational fear that the earth is going to die soon.

And honestly, humans have been polluting ever since they were around...

Good point. But you are missing something, I just want to point out. Environmentalists do look at pollution as a whole. Don't make sweeping generalizations and give us all a bad name as ignorant Americans.

Re: Global Warming or Global Cooling?    By AngryConservative on 10/18/2008 4:48 PM
Ah, but I'm not talking about Environmentalists here (that's for a different topic), I'm talking about politicians who are trying to shove theories down our throats as though they were fact, and then make bad policies that will most likely do more harm than good (like in Yellowstone).

The earth does not need humanity to survive. It's been here for billions of years, it's gone through the extremes of climate changes. Humanity needs Earth to survive. The planet Earth is going to be just fine. But when it comes to the survival of animals, plants and all of humanity, the time has come to put our national and political differences aside and work together to secure the future of all life on Earth.

Something about the way people live in developed countries has to change. We currently have the technology to greatly decrease our CO2 emissions and limit our effect on the environment. The only thing that is holding us back at this point is the cost of the alternatives, it seems like a silly thing to be holding back the progression of man-kind.

We should not be pointing fingers at each other in regards to which country pollutes the most or causes the most harm to our planet, because we've all contributed to climate change.

Re: Global Warming or Global Cooling?    By margejewell on 12/3/2008 8:19 PM
global warming is a serious issue that needs to be highly looked upon in today's society. pollution is constantly being forced into our air through cars, power plants, etc. the earth and what it provides is the human race's means of survival. we cannot live without the earth. why would we harm something that is so precious and gives us what we need in order to live. global warming is the only explanation for what is happening. how do you explain the melting of the ice caps in antartica? i think you need to do some research before you post articles that are clearly ill-informed.
the last thing we need is to be blaming other certain countries for the pollution epidemic. no one who drives a gas powered car has the right to point fingers without being considered a hypocrite. we all have contributed. we all need to fix it. lets get a move on it and not waste our time denying something that is happening right before our eyes.

Re: Global Warming or Global Cooling?    By Amberlynn on 12/4/2008 12:28 PM
I agree with u marge, it is a very serious issue. everyone does some type of pollution with in the first 15 years of their life. i know i have and i deeply regret it. but on another note most ppl do it with out noticing. if ppl actually knew how much they polluted every day, hopefully they would feel bad and be a little more conservative.

Polllution vs. Global Warming

No one is saying we shouldn't pollute. I think we all agree that we should be working towards being better stewards of our charges (i.e. take better care of the planet). What's at issue here is whether or not the *theory* of "global warming" is A) caused by our pollution and thus B) government mandates should be issued because of dubious science.

And please note the original post here, is it Global Warming or Global Cooling? There are "scientists" who claim both...

Does anyone read history??? Is Global Warming real? Yep, it's happened before, it'll happen again. Is Global cooling real? Yep, it's happened before, it'll happen again. Is it global warming or global cooling? Oh ok, this one needs a 2nd grade science lesson, a bit too deep for most conservatives...
ANY dramatic change in weather results in all sorts of turbulent wind/weather reactions, thus tornadoes, hurricanes, drought, extreme heat and cold, etc. do occur in such conditions. Is the earth warming or cooling? Again, a bit over the top knowledge for conservatives... they don't quite comprehend satellite photos taken by other scientists, you know.. the ones that show the icecaps melting at spectacular rates. So, what causes ice to melt?? If you said heat, you're right!!! Good job!! You get a gold star!! Tomorrow we'll talk about how to play fair on the playground...

Re: Global Warming or Global Cooling?    By AngryConservative on 9/7/2009 8:50 AM
You are absolutely correct, the earth cools and warms *on its own* (usually in correlation to the sun). That's the whole point here. The earth warms and cools regardless of what man does. we know and understand so little of how the weather system truly works, that to make government policies to try to control something that we simply can't, and will cause more problems than solve, is just wrong.

We should not just tallk about what's happening before our eyes, let's work together and change what's happening. I know and i believe that there's no such a thing will happen like erosion. These things will happening to show us that the End of the day is near, just right before us. so my advice let not waste our times talking about Global warming becaouse we cannot change a thing. were just talking, but if we react it will work. So there's no such a thing will happen, until the end of time. People are complaining about the wetter is changing every year. But if we take a step and look at what's going on were're find out that this world was created perfectly. These things are happening in purpose, and let's not talk about this because we are scaring people. Lets wait and see what will happen in the future of the next, next generations.

GLOBAL WARMING OR CLIMATE CHANGE?
By Angelos Backus

My article “Global warming or global cooling?”intimidated many of Al Gore's Kool-aid drinkers to rephrase their theme “Global Warming” to “Climate change”. Changing the name of their theme doesn't meant that they changed their thinking. Their new theme relates to their initiatives of wind power, and electric automobiles. Ironically, these initiatives will be the cause of climate change!

In accordance with the first law of thermal dynamics, energy can not be created or destroyed. However, energy can be converted to another form. It is this unwariness of energy conservation by Al Gore and his uninformed followers that has perpetuated the alarmist notion of “global warming”.

Let's analyze wind power...
Wind is created by the potential difference of two or more atmospheric area conditions. One area being under the influence of low pressure, and the other under the influence of higher pressure. Furthermore, in accordance with the second law of thermal dynamics, energy moves from high to low levels until it reaches equilibrium. This is a natural climatic condition, caused by the planets geographic and oceanographic composition. These happenings are vital in maintaining the Earth's climatic conditions.

Let's analyze windmills...
A typical windmill is made up by an electric producing generator powered by three attached metal blades that are as big as a large size tour bus. By attempting to visualize the movement of three buses, one could imagine how much energy would be required. The amount of foot pound of wind energy will be converted to kinetic energy, and only 75% of that can be converted to electrical energy. That converted energy is no longer wind power, therefore, we have detracted the amount needed to fulfill the natural wind movement determined by the potential difference. This obstruction will cause a man-made undetermined climatic condition. This may alter the established natural habitat and geographic evolution in specific areas.

Example:
By hanging a piece of tissue about (5) five feet away and letting out a blast of air, we can see that we can easily make the tissue move. Again we are going to repeat the above steps, but this time we will attempt to move the tissue at the same time as spinning a paper or plastic wind mill with the same blast of air. Much of our wind power was consumed by the wind mill, and the tissue had less movement, if any.

Now, lets talk about electric powered automobiles...

We keep hearing how electric powered automobiles will decrease pollution, and save energy.
Here again, the laws of conservation of energy have been ignored.
Question number one:
From what form of energy was electrical energy converted?
Fossil fuel? Nuclear? Or what? No matter from the energy source, we can never harvest 100% of the original potential energy. A minimum of 25% will be wasted during transformation, storage, and transportation (remember the other law “nothing is free!'). How about the expense and the effects of pollution from the implementation of construction, production, conversion, transportation, and storage of the potential electric energy? How can we then say that the electric powered transportation vehicle will be more efficient and more “environmentally friendly”?

Question number two:
What are we going to do with the solid, and extremely toxic chemical waste of batteries, isolation materials, cables, and the additional necessary contributing metals (copper, aluminum etc.) and lacquers? Aren't our landfills at a catastrophic limit already?
